Louie Baus 3-18-43

Louie Baus was born at St. Marys, Wis., on March 21, 1878. In 1902 he came to South Dakota and made his home with his brother Herman. Four years later, in 1906, he was married to Anna Schaefer in St. Anthony church in Hoven. They lived on a farm near Hoven until last November when they moved to town into the house formerly owned by George Hutmacher which they recently bought. Here he lived with his wife until a month ago when he became ill and was taken to St. Lukes hospital in Aberdeen, where he passed away March 9 at the age of 64 years.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and eight children. Maggie (Mrs. Albert Hageman), Clara (Mrs. Urban Schmidt), Seattle, Wash., Edward Baus, Watertown, Agnes (Mrs. Lawrence Schmidt), Francis (Mrs. Albert Kaiser), Catherine (Mrs. Leonard Frost), Joseph Baus, Seattle, Wash., and Alfred Baus, Lebanon. One Daughter, the youngest, preceded him in death April 14, 1924. He also leaves eight brothers and sisters, Herman Baus of Selby, Mrs. Math Rondorf, and Mrs. Martin Degenhart of Loyal Wis., Christ Baus of Norwalk, Wis., Mrs. Peter Schmitz of Cashton, Wis., Mrs. Joe Lacker of Dyersville, Ia., and Wm. Baus of Hoven. Also 17 grand children.

Funeral services were conducted from St. Anthony's church Friday at 10 o'clock, Msgr. A. C. Helmbrech saying the Requiem mass. He was laid to rest in the family lot.
Pallbearers were Joe and Henry Hericks, John and Leo Weibel, John Schulte and Math Arbach. Donald Hageman was cross bearer.

Out of town relatives were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Baus and family of Watertown, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Baus and baby of Lebanon. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schmitz of Cashton, Wis. Christ Baus of Norwalk, Wis., Mrs. Martin Degenhart and Mrs. Math Rondorf of Loyal, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schaefer of Lebanon, Pvt. Raymond Baus, Camp Campbell, Ky., Mr. and Mrs. Peter M. Arbach and son Raymond, and Mr. and Mrs. Philip Seurer f Sisseton, Mr. and Mrs. William Cooper, Gettysburg. One son Joseph and a daughter, Mrs. Urban Schmidt of Seattle, Wash., where unable to get here for the funeral. They however had spent some time at his bedside during his illness.
