Springfield, Nov. 24 - Mrs. Jane Bean, widow of Daniel L. Bean, died at her home Monday and was buried among her ancestors at the old Gleaton cemetery today, after funeral services had been held at the old St. Theresa Catholic church, conducted by Father Joseph Driscoll, assisted by Father Walsh, this morning. Mrs. Bean had passed her ninety-third birthday, and was the old Catholic in South Carolina, according to the year book of that church. Widow of Daniel L. Bean, honored citizen, Southern soldier and a man of high ideals, Mrs. Bean before marriage was of the well known and honored Gleaton family, and related to a large number of people of this and other sections of the State. She leaves the following children: John McB. Bean, James D. Bean, Thomas L. Bean, and Demps E. Bean, Mrs. Victoria Felder and Miss Alice Bean. This long life had been spent at and near Springfield, and her acts of kindness, with a deep affection for for home, her children and her church were marked characteristics of the noble woman. The funeral services were largely attended by people of the different church and from all walks of her life. © The Times and Democrat, 25 Nov 1936
