Mr. Herbert Leon "H.L." Dodson Jr., age 82, a resident of Pine Thickett Road in
Sparta passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Cookeville Regional Medical
Center.
Mr. Dodson was born December 10, 1926 in Sparta to the late Herbert Leon Dodson, Sr.
and Sally Denton Dodson. He was a retired postal worker and a farmer. Mr. Dodson
served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He is survived by his wife Dora C. Dodson of Sparta
Daughter: Sammie Doris Johnston of Dallas, TX
Three Granddaughters: Jessica, Caris and Brook
Grandson: Phillip Johnston
Three sisters: Martha Sue Mason of Quebeck, Lesterene Meadows of Sparta and Mildred
Ashworth of Sparta
Brother: W.C. Dodson of Sparta
Several Nieces & Nephews
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 28, 2009 in the Chapel of
Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive
friends after 6:00 pm Friday at the Funeral Home. Doyle Crawford, Chris Isom and
Butch Bess will officiate.
