Windsor was adopted from a pet store. When I spotted him he had recently been brought in by a family who couldn't keep him. I fell in love immediately. He was tan with white cow patterned spots.
Windsor loved to stuff "Honey Nut Oh's" cereal into his cheek pouches. He also liked eating lettuce, hamster trail mix, and hamster carob treats. He used to love gnawing on his cage and making it rattle at night. He also enjoyed running in his exercise ball all around the house and escaping when ever he could. Windsor took great enjoyment being spoiled by his human Grandma and special Cousin Rodney.
As hamsters only live approx. 1000 days (3 years), I didn't have far enough time with him. He got a lump on his front paw, so I took him to the Vet. She said it was a tumor and a sign of old age in hamsters and Windsor died soon after.
I was well into my 20's when I lost my hamster baby boy. When you bond with a pet no matter what kind it is, it is just unconditional love and a strong bond. My family and I had our apartment management dig a hole for us to bury him near the back patio. There was weeping and prayer. Our little guy was gone, but never forgotten and always in our hearts.
