Simon was a farmer. His first two story house burned down and his boys helped build it back, a two story plain house with a porch running across the front. He had a large oak barn and that was where he stored his loose hay for the cattle. They mostly grew what they ate but the wild game was plentiful. They sold the farm to a nephew who sold it. The two story house burned down and the farm is no longer accessible by the public. The main road goes around the base of the mountain and the land has been developed. Ike and Martha were buried in Texas. Bud and Maggie's son Daniel Huston Keck lived on the next farm on the hill adjoining Ike's.
