Ruby was married first to James Lee Gilleland, and then to John Blucher Crenshaw.

Ruby Carlene Crenshaw passed away peacefully with family present, on June 29th, 2022. Ruby had just celebrated her 94th birthday and was graced with her wish of being in her home when her time came. We were graced as well. It was a promise fulfilled. Thank you, Lord.

Ruby was born in China Spring, Tx on June 14th, 1928. Her parents, George Daniel and Anna Ruby Lantrip, were sharecroppers and Ruby learned a strong work ethic at an early age. That brought her a fruitful career with the Veterans Administration in Waco, TX where she was presented with numerous outstanding performance awards. She was an avid bridge player as well. She was a sweet soul.

Our memories are filled with laughter and love and gratefulness that she was our mother. Our loss is only outweighed by the joy we have in her reunion with so many loved ones that have passed before her. So we shall celebrate!

Her survivors include daughters: Patty Ballard and fiancé, Bob Bensman, and Linda Stewart; grandsons: Andy and Nick Ballard, Lee and wife, Amber Cantrell, and John Cantrell and fiancé, Chasity Davis; great-grandsons: Dalton Ballard, Caleb, Ayden, and Harlan Cantrell; great-granddaughters: Brooklynn Wolff and Chloe O'Grady; and many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Community Hospice for their care and support. It was invaluable.

A visitation for Ruby will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, 4400 W Waco Dr, Waco, Texas 76710. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 10:00 AM at China Spring Cemetery, China Spring, Texas.
