“Merle E. Fellure, 69, 4007 N Independence-Pine Village Road, Attica, died Wednesday, November 3, 1999, in the Ben Hur Nursing Center, Crawfordsville. He had been in failing health for the past few years.

Born March 5, 1930 in Swanington, in Benton County, he was the son of Zack and Vada Sanders Fellure. He married Alice A. Clute on June 15, 1952 in Swanington, she survives.

He was raised and resided in the home he was born in until 1953. Following his marriage he moved to the Independence area where he has resided since 1953. He attended school in Fowler.

He was employed as a farmer all of his life, farming in Warren and Pine Townships in Warren County. In his early years along with farming he worked on the Nickel Plate and CN & S Railroads. He served in the United States Army reserves during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church in Independence. He was a member of the Green Hill Lodge 455 F.&A.M.; member of the Farm Bureau.

Also surviving are a son, Steven E. Fellure, Attica; two daughters, Valerie (Terry) Lemming, Oxford; Janine (David) Phillips, Veedersburg; three brothers, Floyd Fellure, Oxford; Charles Fellure and Lloyd Fellure, both of Fowler; a sister, Mildred McNerney, Oxford; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mervan and William Fellure.

Services were 1 p.m. Saturday at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica with Pastors James Nickles and Mike Link officiating. Burial was at the Justus Cemetery, Oxford.
