On July 1, 1880, Tom Goodnight married Grace Cowans, the oldest daughter of William and Christina Thomson Cowans. They were the parents of nine children: Louann, Mary Lea, Robert Henry, Isaac Thomas, Jr., Christina Jane, John Benjamin, Grace Edith, Viola and Walter Hayden.
