Dorothy Shelton Bowles, 82, of Boones Mill, went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 15, 2009 at her home. She was born August 17, 1926, a daughter of the late Jack and Nettie Gusler Shelton. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Bertha Trettle and Virginia Shelton. Mrs. Bowles was a longtime member of Boones Mill Baptist Church where she served in many capacities and was involved in many church activities. She was retired from Burlington Industries. Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Clyde W. Bowles; sons, David W. Bowles, James E. Bowles II and wife, Rose; daughter, Robyn Bowles Wines and husband, William; grandchildren, Carrie VanDenBerg, Whitney East, Paisley Bowles, Jason Wade, Matthew Wade; great-grandson, Travis Wade; many nieces, nephews and extended family. The family wishes to thank the staff of Adult Healthcare, Good Samaritan Hospice, and all her wonderful caregivers that attended to her during her illness. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel, 11 a.m., Wednesday with the Rev. Jim Steele officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
