A pioneer Oklahoman, A. J. W. Alrens, 86, died at his home in Wagoner Tuesday, June 16, 1951, after a heart attack. Services were held today at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. R. L. Burns officiating. The Hersman Funeral Home conducted burial services at the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was the father of Henry S. Ahrens of Wagoner. A daughter, Mrs. George Harrison, lives in Sand Springs, and a brother, F. W. Ahrens, lives in Tulsa.
Other survivors include his wife, Mrs. Kate Ahrens; a sister, Mrs. J. H. Manthy, Lexington and two grandchildren, William and Kathryn Harrison, both of Sand Springs.
He was a native of Lexington, Missouri where he attended Wentworth Military Academy. He came to Indian Territory in 1892 to settle at Eufaula, where he was in the mercantile business. He moved to Wagoner in 1899 and has resided here since that time. He has be a well-known stockman and farmer.
Pallbearers were Joe Cobb, R.R. Platt, Lee Harvey, Reginald Gilmore, Bill Alston and Fletcher Young. The Odd Fellow Lodge gave a service at the cemetery.
