He was a native of Ware County but had resided most of his life in Brantley County. He was married to the late Ada Walker Ammons and was the son of the late Wade Hampton Ammons and Minnie Hickox Ammons.
He was a retired farmer and was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
The survivors include five daughters, Waunice Aldridge of Alphretta, Sondra Wingo of Palmetto, Patricia Ball of Piedmont, SD, Betty Jo Clarke of Brownsville, TX, Jane Osteen of Hoboken; a son, Hampton L. Ammons of Hoboken; a brother, Walter Ammons of Columbia, SC; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday (August 15, 2005) at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in High Bluff Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Sunday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.
