Virgil was born Aug 25, 1907 in Harrision County, Missouri to John and Viola Parris Booher. He attended school in Missouri and joined the Marines at the age of 19. He served with expenditionary force in Nicaragua and was also in the rowing team, helping his teammates win many awards. He was on the U.S.S. Pennsylvania, the U.S.S. Arizona, the U.S.S. New York and the U.S.S. New Mexico. He recieved the good conduct medal and was honorably discharged in 1930. He became an Assemblies of God minister in 1934. He married Lenora Rowlett in 1935, she was also an Assemby of God minister. They pastored in Nebraska, Colorado, South Dakota, Kansas, Minnesota and Wyoming before moving back to Colorado. They retired in 1980 to Fleming Colorado. They moved to Grand Junction in 1987. His wife preceded him in death on October 8, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 14 brothers and sisters, one grandson and one great granddaughter, Andrea.
Surviors include David and Barb of Loma, Ruth and Bob White of Paw Paw, Michigan, John of Renton, Washington, Mary and Don Diamond of Glade Park, Virgil Jr. and Sue of Aurora, Lois Baird of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Paul and Carolyn of Torrington, Wyoming, Juanita and Bob Hanson of Cannon City, 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Virgil enjoyded his family, reading God's word and gardening. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Febuary 14, 1998 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Ameriacn Heart Association or the First Assembly of God Church. Arangements are with Callaham-Edfast Mortuary.
