A native of Pierce County, she had lived in Brantley County for many years.
A housewife, she was a member of Satilla Baptist Church near Hortense and was a daughter of the late Joseph Lester Dowling Sr. and Hattie Mae Dowling. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence James Moody in 1988.
Survivors are four daughters, Vera Harrell of Waverly, Mary Waters of Claxton, Lavonne Sellers and Geraldine Branch, both of Hortense; two sons, Jerry Moody and Terry Moody, both of Hortense; a sister, Alta Aldridge of Blackshear; a sister-in-law, Julia Bell Dowling of Hortense; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, from the Satilla Baptist Church with the Rev. Robin Adams, the Rev. R. C. Mathis and the Rev. Gwinnet Aldridge officiating. Interment followed in the Hortense Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were her grandsons.
