Samantha was the daughter of Solomon Towslee and Betsey Barber, his first wife, with whom he went west to Scipio NY. Betsey died, and Solomon came home with their baby, Samantha. He then married Betsey's niece, Melissa, who became step-mother to Samantha, and she and Solomon had 11 additional children. Samantha had 4 daughters, Amy Elizabeth (a/k/a Elizabeth A.), Selina, Caroline, and Sara Abigail. She lived to be 92. Married Henry H. Babcock 26 Sept. 1829. Henry died in 1841 Vermont.
