BROWN, Mark Alan
Born January 4, 1956, in Corona, California. He and his family moved to Lancaster, California in the summer of 1970. He attended special education classes at Joshua School and went to work at Desert Haven Enterprises once he reached the age of 18. Desert Haven is a workshop for the developmentally disabled, and Mark Brown devoted himself to his job there for 35 years. Mark Brown was a family man. He lived with his mother Deniece Brown, and was close to his brothers Keith and David, along with a rather extended family that surrounded him at every occasion. Truth be told, everyone was family to Mark Brown. He never met a stranger. Mark Brown's church home was Grace Chapel; he had attended Sunday school classes there since he came to Lancaster. He also dedicated himself to the local Special Olympics bowling league for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing pool, joking around, and dancing the night away when given the chance. On January 30, 2009, Mark Alan Brown went to Heaven, like he always said he would. There will be a Memorial service for him at 1 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2009, at Halley- Olsen-Murphy, 44802 Date Ave, Lancaster, with a graveside service to follow at Lancaster Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Desert Haven Enterprises at 43437 Copeland Circle, Lancaster, CA 93535.
