Micheletto Rites Celebrated Here

Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated for John Micheletto, 89, of Sidney at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 31, 1971, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, with Father Patrick Sampson celebrant. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m., Thursday, at Fulkerson Memorial Chapel. Interment was in St. Matthew's Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Fay Corkran G. B. Schmierer, Peter
P. Ruffatto, Steve Paladichuk, Tad Wilder and Elwood Prigan. Honorary pallbearers were Viggo Andersen, Rene Barone, Charles Basta, Augustine Minjares, Dan Price and Ben Dawe. Ushers were Patrick and John Micheletto. Roxle Rees served as organist.

John Micheletto was born July 14, 1882, at Nervesa, Italy, son of Anthony and Maria Micheletto. He was raised there and came to the United States in 1904 and worked on the west coast during which time he helped in the clean-up after the earthquake in San Francisco.

He returned to Italy where he and Anna M. Desordi were married in February 1912 when they returned to the United States. He first came to Sidney in 1912 with the railroad and returned in 1916 when they began farming on the south edge of Sidney. They retired from active farming in the middle195O's although they continued to live on their place. Anna died June 14, 1971.

John was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church.
He passed away at Community Memorial Hospital, Monday morning, Dec. 27.

Surviving him are: Four sons; Art of Glendive, Joe of Savage, Jim of Sidney, and Tom of Missoula; three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Mary) Jensen of Sidney, Mrs. Don (Eva) Blandford of Chehalis, Wash., and Mrs. Charles (Joe) McIntyre of Vancouver, B.C.; 24 grandchildren and four great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his wife and one son, Carlos, who was killed Dec. 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor.
