Husband of Betsy Ellen Wood, married 16 Nov 1884 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England also of Yorkshire, Huddersfield, England. They came to the U.S. in 1910.

To this union 11 Children were born; Martha, Lucy, Harold, Fred, Arthur, Frank, Percy, Ellis, Clara, Evelyn and George Clayton.

CLAYTON - Walter Clayton, 81, of 1993 Lemon Ave., died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clara Parker, South Gate. He was born in London, England, and came to the United States in 1910, locating in Long Beach in 1916. Surviving are his five sons, Harold Clayton, Toronto, Ont., Canada; Fred Clayton, Detroit, Mich; Percy Clayton, Los Angeles; Ellis Clayton, South Gate; Sgt. George Clayton, Army Air Corps in China, formerly with Green's Print Shop; four daughters, Mrs. Patty Howarth and Mrs. Parker, of South Gate; Mrs. Lucy Wheelhouse, Jamestown, New York; Mrs. Evelyn Shepherd, Long Beach; 11 grandsons and six granddaughters; four great grandchildren. The funeral will be directed by Marcoux Mortuary, South Gate, with interment at Midland, Mich.
