SMITH, Alfred Mark
Born April 25 1928, Wheelock, VT., died Jan. 27, 2009. Previously of McArthur, Calif., active in American Legion and Fort Crook Historical Society. U.S. Air Force Veteran and electronic engineer, Smith retired with 31 years at Litton Guidance and Control Systems. Traveled the world testing inertial navigation systems on X-15, F-15, A-12, SR-71, U-2, others. Survived by wife of 56 years, Barbara Smith; children, Kim Rawley and Marc and Susen Smith; grandchildren Megan and Chris Hernandez, Allison Rawley, and Cody Carney. Services 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, Chapel of the Valley, Palmdale. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fort Crook Historical Society Round Barn Fund, P.O. Box 397, Fall River Mills, CA 96028.
