He was born October 21, 1895, at Lockridge, to Samuel and Ella Lee Barton. He married Leah McDowell, March 2, 1921 at Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Barton, a retired farmer, was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Donald of Wever and Gene of Hillsboro, daughter Marilyn Hahn of Sigourney; a brother, Rev. Dale; two sisters, Mary McElwee, Mt. Pleasant and Susie McWilliams, Knoxville, Illinois; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 12, 2 p.m. at the Hillsboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Buchanan and the Rev. Lester Smith officiating. Burial was in Hillsboro Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Hillsboro Baptist Church.
