William Lloyd Anderson, 94, of 321 S. Ward, died at 2:45 p.m. Jan.23, 2009 at his home.

He was born June 6, 1914 in Willard, Neb. to John McClellan and Joanna Pearson Anderson. He married Orene Harwood July 9, 1935 in Ottumwa. She preceded him in death Jan. 6, 2003.

He served in World War II in Japan and Okinawa. He worked for John Morrell and Co. in the lard refinery, retiring in 1973.He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Surviving is a daughter, Judith A. (Jerry) Sands of Ottumwa; a son, Stephen (Roberta) Anderson of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joyce Colleen Anderson.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Bishop Paul Holmgren officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 American Legion.
