Mrs. Allan was the widow of Col. William Allan, chief of ordnance on the staff of General Stonewall Jackson.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of Dr. Allan, by Dr. Charles R. Nesbit, pastor of Caldwell Memorial church. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.
Mrs. Allan is survived by her son and one daughter, Mrs. W. J. Bryant of this city.
Mrs. Allan was born in Lexington, Va., December 23, 1848, and was the daughter of Col. J. T. L. Preston and Sarah Carruthers Preston. Colonel Allan, her husband, who died in 1889, was the author of "Jackson's Campaign Through Virginia," a text book used in many military institutions.
Mrs. Allan came to Charlotte to live with her son in 1908 and has since lived in the city. She was a member of Caldwell Memorial Presbyterian church. Mrs. Allan was a devoted Christian woman, whose life typified the highest ideals of the Old South. She was gifted as a speaker and an author. Her influence has been felt by many forward movements in Charlotte.
Pallbearers at the funeral today will be Lewis C. Burwell, W. E. Price, Charles McPheeters, F. M. Simmons, Dr. A. G. Brenizer, and Dr. Oren Moore.
