Funeral services for Abraham Niau Haleakala, 58, of 1109 Clark St., Rock Springs, were held Wednesday, January 24, at the LDS Church with the Bishop Daron Dewey conducting.
Active pallbearers were Stanley Wisniewski, Kim Weaver, Richard Postlethwait, Steven Paulson, Robert Wilde and Bill Franc.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Gibbs and Lyman Fearn.
Military graveside services were conducted by the American Legion Archie Hay Post No. 24, with interment following in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Haleakala died January 21 at his home.
A resident of Rock Springs since 1969, Mr. Haleakala had been in ill health the past 15 years. He was born on March 17, 1920, in Kuai, Hawaii, the son of the late David Niau and Kalaniku Apelu Haleakala. He attended schools in Hanalei, Kauai, Hawaii, and was a member of the LDS Church.
Survivors include one son, Ralph Niau of Rock Springs; three daughters, Mrs. George (Donna) Wisniewski of Rock Springs, Mrs. Theodore (Illona) Rought of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and Mrs. Paul (Colleen) Fear of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three brothers, five sisters, 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Niau was preceded in death by one daughter, Cy and 16 brothers and sisters.
