Donald, who resided in St. George's, Delaware served as a Staff Sergeant & Tail Gunner on B-24H "Miasis Dragon" (#42-52172), 715th Bomber Squadron, 449th Bomber Group, Fifteenth Air Force, U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He enlisted in the Army on January 2, 1942 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as having previously been a member of the Delaware National Guard and also as Single, without dependents.
Donald was "Killed In Action" when his B-24 has hit by enemy planes during a bombing mission over Bucharest, Romania and crashed during the War.
He had served in the Air Corps for three years and three months at time of his death. He was decorated with a Purple Heart.
