Alwine Hueske was born in Germany on May 2, 1875, the daughter of August and Emilie (Grauwunder) Hueske. Alvina had two brothers, Otto and Adolph and two sisters, Hulda and Ottilie. The family came to America in 1881, first landing at New York, then changing ships and eventually landing at Galveston, TX. From there they took a train to the Brenham area, where they lived for four years, then settled in McGregor, TX.

On January 24, 1895, Alwine married Freidrich Lindemann in McGregor, Texas. He acquired the name "Fritz", short for Friedrich and Alwine was pronounced Alvina in English.

In 1906, Fritz and Alvina, along with their children moved to the Providence Area in Floyd County, Texas. Fritz later bought 160 acres in Swisher County, and in 1916 built a new home for his family. It became known as "the home place" and they lived there the remainder of their lives.

Fritz and Alvina had 13 children: Henry, Adolph, Emilie, Alma and Albert (twins), Fred, Dora, Louise, Meta and Frieda (twins, Frieda died in infancy) Annie, William and Hermann, who died at the age of six months
