THOMAS BLACKWELL
Funeral services for Thomas Eugene Blackwell, 84, of 1225 Main Street, Reliance, were held Tuesday at the Church of Christ, West Rock Springs, with Mr. John Crandall and Mr. Leslie Rickerson officiating.
Burial was in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Blackwell died Friday, Sept. 17, at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.
Pallbearers were Michael E. Blackwell, Ross A. Condie, Clifford Renz, J.C. Heavin, Douglas A. Rock and Neil Pruitt.
Honorary pallbearers were John Tennant and Ted Hiner.
He had been in ill health since April. Mr. Blackwell was born October 5, 1891 at Brownsville, Tennessee, the son of the late Harry and Sara Green Blackwell and was a retired fire boss for the Union Pacific Coal Company.
He attended school at Brownsville, Tenn., and was an Army Veteran of World War I. He was married to Panzey Dazey in Rawlins, on March 16, 1929 and had resided in Superior for 30 years prior to moving to Reliance in 1959.
Survivors include his wife, Panzey of Reliance; two sons Samuel E. of Rock Springs, and Thomas D. who is with the United States Navy at Coronado, California and two daughters, Mrs. Guy (Zelda)Dona of Rock Springs and Mrs. Donald (Barbara) Condie of Rock Springs; one brother, Leon G. thirteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Samuel and a sister, Ann.
