Josie Victoria Stratton, daughter of the late Mrs. Elizabeth Creglow, was born at Oblong, Ill., April 29, 1871, and died at the home of her son, Lee Bell, at Summersville on July 3, 1952, at the age of 81 years, three months, and four days.

Her childhood was spent in Illinois, Michigan, and Ironton, Missouri.

At the age of 16 she moved with her family to Texas County, Missouri, where she spent the remaining years of her life with the exception of a few months spent with her daughter, Mrs. M.T. Maxwell, in Texas.

On December 28, 1890, she was married to Warren S. Bell. Eight children were born to them. The eldest daughter, Pearl, the youngest daughter, Lillian, and the husband preceded her in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Bell celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary before his death.

Surviving her are the children, Roy E. Bell, of Detroit, Michigan; Mrs. Maude Hart of Corpus Christi, Texas; Mrs. Grace McMullin of Grace Valley, California; California Lee Bell, of Summersville; Mrs. Myrtle Maxwell of Dallas, Texas; and Mrs. Bessie Rasler of Marysville, California. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one brother, Warren Creglow, of Newton, Kansas, besides other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Bell was widely known and had been a leading citizen in the Summersville section for many years. Her home was a meeting place for the young people and she played an important part in the development of youth in her community.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, July 5, at the Summersville Methodist Church by Rev. Lloyd Tyree. Music was by the choir, a soloist, and pianist, Mrs. E. Mecklenburg. Interment was at the Bell cemetery.
