SULPI, Lena
Born May 4, 1916, in Canada. She passed away on January 3, 2009, at 92 years of age in Solvang, Calif., where she had been living for 5 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, and her father and step-mother, Domenic and Teresa Massari. Prior to moving to Solvang, Lena was a long-time resident of Palmdale, having moved there in the 1920s as a young child. She moved to Italy with her mother for a number of years, coming back to rejoin her father in Palmdale in 1936. She and Sam were married at the original St. Marys Church in Palmdale in 1939. She is survived by her children, Irene Cunningham of Solvang and James Sulpi of Palmdale, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Carolyn Lobue. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, January 9, 2009, at St. Marys Catholic Church, Palmdale, Calif., with burial following at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. Chapel of the Valley Mortuary, Palmdale Directors.
