After a short time in Hollywood, Joshua directed "On Borrowed Time" on Broadway. In 1942 he served the US Army during World War II, and after the war, he directed the Broadway productions "Annie Get Your Gun", "John Loves Mary", "Mister Roberts", "South Pacific" and "Fanny". In 1955 Logan returned to Hollywood to complete the filming of "Mister Roberts" and directed "Picnic" (1955), with William Holden, Kim Novak, Rosalind Russell and Betty Field, "Bus Stop" (1956), with Marilyn Monroe and Don Murray, "Sayonara" (1957), with Marlon Brando, Patricia Owens and Martha Scott, "South Pacific" (1958), with Rossano Brazzi and Mitzi Gaynor. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Directing for "Picnic" and "Sayonara" and also won the Golden Globe in 1956 as Best Motion Picture Director for "Picnic" (1955), and in 1956 won the WGA Award (Screen) as Best Written American Comedy for "Mister Roberts" (1955). He was married to Actress Barbara O'Neil from 1939 to 1940, and for many years to Actress Nedda Harrigan. Logan has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard for his contribution to the motion picture industry.
