Funeral services for Dr. Alexander H. Moore, 79 years old, for forty years a practicing physician at Clinton Falls, who died at his home Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock of angina pectoris, following an illness of eighteen months, will be held from the M.P. Church in Clinton township Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock with Rev. Victor L. Raphael of Greencastle in charge. Interment will be in Forest Hill cemetery in Greencastle.
Dr. Moore's end was hastened by a stroke of paralysis suffered last Friday.
Two daughters, Miss Leola Moore, a teacher in the Martha Redpath school in Greencastle, and Miss Goldie Moore of Terre Haute, and a sister, Mrs. Eliza Woods, mother of Mrs. Ed. Stone of Greencastle, are the only near surviving relatives. His wife died seventeen years ago.
Dr. Moore was born November 29, 1851 near Mansfield in Parke County, the son of Labon (sic) and Jane Kemper Moore. He was the youngest of thirteen children. He secured his early education in the rural schools of that vicinity and later took up the study of medicine, teaching school to pay his way through medical schools at Keokuk, Iowa, and at Indianapolis. He secured his diploma from the Indiana Medical School at Indianapolis in 1881.
He took up the practice of medicine at Clay City where he met and married Miss Callie Williams of Spencer, a teacher in the Clay City schools at that time. His marriage occurred December 28, 1886.
The couple took up housekeeping at Morton in Putnam County, living there only a few months before going to Bellmore where they were located for two years. They then removed to Clinton Falls where Dr. Moore has resided for forty years.
He was probably one of the most widely known physicians in the county. He was an active worker in the M.P. church in Clinton township, formerly the Dunkard church. He also taught Sunday School in the church for a number of years.
