Joseph Edward (Joe) McCausland, also known as Joey, was one of 13 children born to William David McCausland & Roseanna Cecelia Dougherty-McCausland, Joe was the last child born of the 13 children.

Carries the first name of his mother's brother Joseph Leo Dougherty. Also carries the first name of his maternal grandfather's (Michael Joseph Dougherty) middle name.

Joe McCausland represented the 32nd PAL in the 1950 PHILADELPHIA GOLDEN GLOVES. He advanced to the semi-final round where he was defeated by Tommy D'Ambrosio (Vinnie DeCarlo). He turned pro in 1952 and boxed 9 times compiling a record of: W - 5 L - 2 D - 2 KO – 2

McCAUSLAND, JOSEPH E. August 22, 2008, beloved husband of the late Eileen (nee Donahue). Devoted father of Gene (Marie), Sharon (Thomas), Maureen, Eileen (William), Sheila, Sean (Dorothy), Mark, Robert (Gina), Jane (Thomas) and Michael (Joan); also survived by 26 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Joe was a retired member of Local 30 and the PA Boxing Hall of Fame. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Tues. eve 6-9 P.M. and also Wed. 8:30-9:15 A.M. at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 1428 E. Columbia Ave. (at Fkd. Ave.) followed by his Funeral Mass 10 A.M., Visitation B.V.M. Church. Int. Holy Sepulchre Cem. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Visitation B.V.M. School, 2625 "B" Street, Phila., PA 19125 in his memory would be appreciated.
