Ellen Thompson Davis O'Hara died on December 14, 2008 in Edmond, OK at the age of 95. Born in 1913 in Morris, OK she was the second daughter born to Martha Christina Newberry and Robert Daniel Thompson, Okmulgee oil pioneers. Later, the family moved to Okmulgee where she spent her early years in the Okmulgee School System before attending Christian College in Columbia, MO. She married former classmate Leonard E. Davis in 1934 and started her early married life as a teacher in Okmulgee at Wilson School. Her most meaningful role was homemaker, mother to their two children, civic organizations and The First Christian Church. An active member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, she belonged to Chapter Z in Okmulgee, a Chapter in Santa Maria, CA. and most recently Chapter ES in Edmond. Leonard died in 1963. Ellen returned to Okmulgee to be with her father for the next several years before becoming "Mom Davis" for Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity at OSU in Stillwater, OK. In 1972 she married Raymond J. O'Hara and moved to CA. Ray died in 1985. Returning to Edmond, OK in 2000, she spent the next eight years at Copper Lake Manor and Assisted Living Facilities, where she made many new friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Martha C. and R.D. Thompson, sister Thelma McCune and brother, James Robert (Bob) Thompson. Her family wishes to thank the many kindnesses and loving care given to Ellen by the staff at Copper Lake. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 18, 5 to 7 pm, and a Chapel Service will be held Friday, December 19, 11:00 am, followed by graveside burial at Okmulgee Cemetery.
