(Page 503) Source: "Pennsylvania archives By Samuel Hazard, John Blair Linn, William Henry Egle, George Edward Reed, Thomas Lynch Montgomery, Pennsylvania.

Please note: The Schlosser sisters are the daughter of Joseph Schlosser and Anna Mary Molloch/Morloch

Christian Eckenroth (3)had seven children:

1. Elizabeth Eckroth(4) born 25th February 1785 by first wife. Elizabeth Eckroth (4) married Adam Miller around 1806 in Mifflin Northumberland Co., PA.

2. Christian Eckroth (4) born about 22nd January 1787 by second wife. Christian died April 3rd 1847 Bethlehem Stark Co., Ohio buried in St. Clement's Navarre, OH. He married Elizabeth around 1811 in Mifflin Northumberland Co., PA. See bio: Christian Eckroate (4)

3. Peter Eckroth (4) born 10th November 1790 in Dauphin Co., PA. by second wife. Peter Eckroth died July 17th 1848 Mifflinville, Columbia County, PA. He married Lydia around 1814 in Mifflin Columbia County, PA. See bio: Peter Eckrote (4)

4. Polly "Pollij" Eckroth (4) brn 1791-1792. by second wife.

5. Margaret "Peggy" Eckroth (4) born 19 April 1793 by second wife. See bio: Margaret Rebecca "Peggy" (Eckenroth) Eckroate She married her 2nd cousin Daniel Eckroth. They moved to Stark County, Ohio.

6. Mary Eckroth (4) born 1801 -1804 by second wife. See bio: Mary (Eckenroth) Eckroate She married her 2nd cousin John Eckroth. They also moved to Stark County, Ohio.

7. Catharine Eckroth (4) brn. 1801-1804 Mifflin Township, Northumberland, Co.,PA. Catharine married Henry Wehr around 1818 Mifflin Township, Columbia County, PA.

In April 1784 Christian Eckenroth married his first wife; Catharine Anna Schlosser. On the same day her sister Magdalen Schlosser married Christopher Flower (GR, page 110 and 111; "Records", Volume 3, pages 387 and 388). Catharine Anna and Magdalen were the daughters of Joseph and Anna Mary Margaret Schlosser of Richmond Township, Berks County. Catharine Anna's birthdate is unknown but her sister Mary Magdalen was born 2 October 1767, baptised 26 October 1767 according to her baptismal record filed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Philidelphia. (GR, pages 97, 140, 150, 163, 193, 243; "Records", Volume 11, page 50, and volume 61, page 188). (WK-book 152)

Christian Eckenroth and Catharine Anna (Schlosser)Eckenroth had their first child, Elizabeth (4) on 25th February, 1785. She was baptised 13 March 1785 at Spitzenberg. Spitzenberg is also known as Asperum Collem. (GR, page 97, "Records, volume 3, page 374).

Christian's second child was born 22nd January 1789 by his second wife Mary Magdalen. (GR, page 141, "Records", volume 8, page 349)

Sometime between the birth of Elizabeth (4) and the conception of his second child in 1788, his first wife; Catharine Anna (Schlosser) Eckroth, had died. Polly (4), Christian's second daughter was born between 1791 and 1792. It is uncertain of the exact birthdate.

In any event, Christian (3) married his second wife Mary Magdalen during the period 1785-1788. Her maiden name has not yet been found with certainty. However, Joseph Schlosser, Catharine Anna's father, whose wife apparently predeceased him, wrote his will on 22nd December 1820 which was probated on 22nd November 1821 (Book and page number not copied) in Berks County. In it he named his seven surviving children: George, John, Jacob, Joseph, Magdalens Flower, Margaret Swartz, and Maria Eckroth. Based on this will it may believed that Christian Eckroth's second wife may have been Maria (Magdlena) Schlosser, the sister of his first wife Catharine Anna Schlosser. Did Joseph Schlosser have two daughters named Mary Magdalen; one married to Christopher Flower, the other to Christian Eckroth (3) and his second wife? I believe he did. (WK-book page 153)

In 1785 and 1786, Christian Eckroth (3) was assessed taxes for one head of cattle but no land in Lynn Township, Northampton County (PA Archives, Series 3, Volume 19, pages 117 and 239).

In November 1787, he was still in Northampton County serving in the County Militia. I believe he moved about 1788 since he did not appear on the Tax rolls of Northampton County for that year (PA Archives, Series 3, Volume 19, page 338).

In 1790 he was found in Dauphin County, PA (1790 Census, page 92, Township not specified).

By 1800 he had moved to Mifflin Township, Northumberland County which on 22nd March 1813 became part of Columbia County. ("History of Columbia and Montour Counties, PA."; J.H. Battle; Chicago, A. Warner & Co.; 1887; page 55). (WK-book page 153).

On March 23rd 1807 through August 11th 1808, Christian Eckroth Purchased 170 acres of land from Daniel Fowler (Northumberland County Deed Book 2, page 470).

Christian Eckroth (3) died in Mifflin township Columbia county, PA betwwen 9 and 22nd November 1817 leaving a will. (LDS File #954835, pages 77-79; Columbia County file 3, Book and page not copied).

The will indicates that at the time of writing, Christian (3) naming them them according to the custom of the time in two groups -males first followed by female and within each group by order of birth- sons: Christian (4) and Peter (4); daughters: Elizabeth(4), Polly (4), Peggy (Margaret)(4), Mary (4), and Catharine (4).

It should be noted that Catharine (4) was apparently the only daughter unmarried as of 9th Novmeber 1817 when Christian (3) wrote his will. On 20th September 1823 the plot of land bequeathed to John and Mary by Christian (3) was released and conveyed to them by Adam and Elizabeth Miller, John and Polly Miller, Daniel and Margaret (Peggy) Eckroad, and Henry and Catharine Wehr. On 15th November 1823, John and Mary Eckroad sold this land situatied next to Daniel Eckroad's land in Mifflin Township, Columbia County to Jacob Nude. (LDS #955162, page 42, Columbia county book and page # not copied). These documents are especially significant since they identify the husbands of the daughter of Christian Eckenroth (3). (WK-book page 154)
