Wallace. E. Smith - Born North Hampton, OH March 17, 1846. When 5 years old went to Sheboygan Co., WI. In 1863 to Van Buren Co. and in 1864 enlisted in Co. K, 45th IA Inf and served until end of War. Married May 5, 1872 to Miss Mary S. Duer. Five children, one of whom, Wallace, Jr., died March 5, 1880. Surviving children: E. C. Smith, Bonaparte; Mrs. Mary Sanford of Canton, IL; Elmer E. Smith of Oklahoma City, OK and Roy M. Smith, Cedar Rapids, IA. Wife and mother died May 27, 1897. Two sisters: Mrs. Finette McComb who has been living with Mr. Smith of Bonaparte and Mrs. H. S. Justice of Hutchinson, KS. Four grandchildren. Wallace Smith (son) died in 1880 and Wallace Smith Sandford, (grandson) age 16 months died. Died Tuesday night (date on notice November 15, 1910). Age 64 years, 7 months, 28 days. F-Bonaparte Cemetery, Bonaparte.
