LINEAGE: Ephraim David BARKS; Huntill BARKS and wife, Sarah Catherine Masters BARKS of North Carolina.

Once more the mighty hand of Destiny has grasped the hammer of time and cast the blow on the anvil of death, that forged another link in "Memory's Golden Chain" in the death of an old soldier and one of Perry County's well known citizens, Jacob Barks who died of paralysis on January 22nd at his home near Cross Roads on Perryville Route One, at the age of 77 years.
Mr. Barks was twice married; a Miss Wills of Cape Girardeau county being his first wife who died about 35 years ago. To this union five children were born. His next marriage was to Miss Matilda Blaylock, of this county who survives; to this union six children were born; four children from the first marriage and five from the second marriage, also twenty-one grand children, two brothers and two sisters and a host of friends are left to mourn his death.
Interment was at Mount Pleasant Wednesday January 24th, witnessed by a large number of friends and relatives.
