At the age of 23 he was married to Mary Edith Collins at Gratiot, Wis., to this union two children were born Mrs. M.E. Usher, Martin, So. Dak., Mrs. J.D. Usher, Rockford, Ill., also one adopted daughter, Mrs. E.E. Jones, of Rockford, Ill., all of whom survive him, also one sister, Mrs. S.A. Collins of Monroe, Wis. Ten half brothers and sisters namely Samuel, William, Joul and Frank of So. Wayne, Lewis of Virginia. Mrs. Geo. Lutz, Mrs. Chas. Larse, Mrs. Ross Hobbs, South Wayne, Mrs. Fred Underwood of Agra, Kan., and Mrs. Clarence Saucerman of Greenwood, Wis., one stepbrother, Daniel Burritt of Bassette, Wis., and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Hale was converted and united with the EU. B. Church when 16 years of age, being unable to attend this, in later years he attended the Methodist. He was a kind and loving husband and father, always thoughtful of his family, neighbors and friends as well.
Funeral services were held at the ME church at So. Wayne, March 31. Where Rev. Moore of Warren, Ill., assisted by Rev. Campbell of So. Wayne, delivered a very interesting sermon taken from the 23rd Psalm, 4th Verse. The Quartett sang the beautiful songs, "Wonderful Peace" "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" "Sometime We'll Understand."
After which a large body of brother Woodman laid him to rest in his family lot at Gratiot, Wis.
