Civil War Veteran Killed by Train, Mounds Independent, October 14,1932
Dallas McCann of Cobden, one of six surviving members of the Grand Army of the Republic, was instantly killed at 5:15 o'clock last Thursday evening (Oct0ber 6, 1932), when he walked into the path of No.26, a northbound passenger train preparing to make its regular station stop 100 yard further on at the south crossing. Mr. McCann had passed his eighty-eighth birthday on Wednesday Sept. 4, 1932.
