Killed in Action over Germany, on mission to bomb the Deurag oil refinery in Misburg, Germany. Shot down by an enemy Fw-190A fighter and crashed 15 kilometers northwest of Hildesheim, Germany, near the community of Oerie.
All nine crew members were killed. MACR 10764.
