T.W. Henderson, S.V. Pioneer, Dies at Age 88
Thomas Wallace Henderson, 88, former Star Valley resident who lived at Smoot many years, died in a Salt Lake City convalescent home Tuesday, Oct 17, after a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Oct 20 at 2 p.m. in the Burton LDS Ward Chapel, 2702 S. Main St., Salt Lake City. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Afton Cemetery, where he will be buried.
He was born March 6, 1879 at Brigham City, Utah, a son of Samuel and Mary June Chivers Henderson. He married Kathleen Stumpp, Oct 12, 1912. She died Dec 5, 1943. He married Sarah Ellen Price Ehlers, June 26, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving two missions to New Zealand, 1904-06, and California. He was a pioneer rancher in Smoot, and owned real estate in Afton.
He is survived by his widow; sons, Dewey Wallace, Laramie, Wyo.; William Carl, Riverton Wyo.; Leslie Rock Springs, Wyo.; daughters, Mrs Roy (Bessie) Davis. Texas' Mrs Rey (Eva) McCombs, Merced, Calif.; Mrs Norville (Leoyce) Broadbent, Renton, Wash.; stepsons, Francis Clift, Finley Clift, Jay Fred Ehlers all of Salt Lake City; stepdaughters, Mrs Chester (Florence) Wallace Los Angles, Calif.; Mrs John (Pearl) Lazenby, Mrs LaVar (Vera) Ollphant, Mrs Henry (Ellen) Piep, Mrs Vincent (Lee) Jullan, Mrs George (Dorothy) Piep, Mrs Quinton (Darlene) Mitter, all Salt Lake City; sister Mrs William (Mary) Hale, Salt Lake City.
