After an extended illness Mrs Henrietta Lesueur Edwards died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Jimmie Matthews at Ranger, on February 28, 1921. She had been on an extended visit to New Mexico, where she was visiting her son-in-law, Mr. Allen Lane and her grand children, and on the return home was stricken.

She was the daughter of Major Mead and Henrietta Lesueur was born in Bolingbroke, GA May 10 1837, and during her girlhood attended the common schools of her native state, and graduated from Bessie Tifft College Forsythe, Ga July 11, 1855. She was married to Mr. James H. Edwards on Dec 18, 1860.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at Chatfield where for so many years she had worshipped. The church was crowded to capacity, the casket and the altar were banked with many beautiful flower offerings in token of the love and high esteem in which this good woman was held.
