Also, the baptism register for Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church states that Sarah was born 14 Oct 1868 and baptized 18 Dec 1868. Oct. 20th is from the Michigan death certificate index and the obituary, both of which were based on information from an informant who, in their grief, could have given a wrong date. Or the baptism register is wrong. All to say that the actual birth date is uncertain.
Erinsville is where Sarah was baptized however the Cavanaugh family farm was the south half of Lot 31, Concession IV, Hungerford Tp., Hastings Co., Ontario, Canada. Sarah would most likely have been born either on the farm or at a local midwife's place in the nearby village of Marlbank (also in Hungerford Tp.). The 1861 Census of Canada noted that there were no churches in that area of Hungerford so the Cavanaugh family attended Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church in Erinsville, Sheffield Tp. (now part of Stone Mills Tp.), United Counties of Lennox and Addington - just across the township/county line.
