The 1861 Census of Canada noted that there were no churches in that area of Hungerford so the Cavanaugh family attended Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church in Erinsville, Sheffield Tp. (now part of Stone Mills Tp.), United Counties of Lennox and Addington - just across the township/county line.
