Birth: Oct. 6, 1864
Hamilton County
Indiana, USA
Death: Mar. 26, 1936
Fayette County
Illinois, USA

Malinda Olive Lee Smith was born in Tipton County, Indiana, October 6th, 1864, and departed from this earthly life at her home near St. Elmo, Illinois, on Marching 26, 1936, when she had reached the age of 71 years, 5 months and 20 days.
Her childhood and early womanhood were spent near her birthplace in Indiana. On December 13, 1885, she was united in marriage to Albert E. Smith, with whom she later moved to Illinois, there to make their home together, and where she spent all the remainder of her life. Together she and her husband climbed life's rugged pathway, meeting many hardships, but with hands clasped they met and overcame them all safely. At last, however, there came a bridge which only one could cross, and had to be left behind. Mother went on, and Father must travel the remaining earthly way alone, after having shared together a companionship of over fifty years.
Her home will never be the same, her garden never again so enticing, and the perfume of her flowers will be missing.
Three children are left to the husband and father to cheer and soften his way, namely: Mrs. Letta Mae Katon, of Tipton, Indiana, Glenn, of Mt. Auburn, Illinois; and Lloyd, at home. Four children preceded her in death: Cora, Asher and Fanny in their fancy; and Emery in his young manhood. Three brothers: Alvin Lee, of Missouri; Emery Lee and Arch Lee, of Indiana, survive her, not to mention a large number of grandchildren, many relatives by marriage, and a very wide circle of friends.
In early life Mrs. Smith confessed her Christian faith and united with the Christian Church. Consistently she retained that faith until the end of her earthly pilgrimage. A kind and loving mother, a faithful wife, a servant of her Lord, she had gone to her reward.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 28, from the home to the Bethany Christian church near Brownstown. Interment took place in the Bethany cemetery. Rev. J. H. Sharda, of the Brownstown Christian Church was in charge of the service.
