"Chloe A. Nelson who came to Arizona in 1912 after Mexican insurgents drove her and other members of a Mormon community out of the state of Chihuahau, has died here at the age of 86."
"Mrs Nelson, who died Sunday at her home, was born in Corrales Colonia Pacheco in Chihuahua, Mexico, on Oct 15, 1890. Her parents were a part of a group of Mormons sent to the small Mexican community in the Sierra Madre Mountains in 1885 by the Mormon Church in Utah."
"Mrs Nelson, her husband, Hyrum V. Nelson and most of the settlers of the Mormon community left the tiny town in 1912 because of Mexican rebels, who constantly were disrupting communities in forays against Mexican federal troops."
"From the Chihuahua town, the Nelson moved to Thatcher. In 1919, the couple moved to Tucson, where Mr Nelson started a flooring contracting business."
"Mrs Nelson, a housewife, was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."
"Funeral services are scheduled for 1 pm tomorrow at First Ward LDS Chapel, 3700 E Ft Lowell Road. Burial will follow in Tucson Memorial Park South Lawn, 5401 S Park Ave."
"Mrs Nelson is survived by her husband; seven sons, E. Vance Nelson, M L Nelson and Robert L Nelson, all of Tucson, Rey F Nelson of Mesa, M Grant Nelson of Bountiful, Utah, C Jay Nelson of Blanding, Utah, Donovan S. Nelson of St. David; six daughters, Myrtle Perkins of Blanding, Utah, Ardyth Taylor of Las Vegas, Nev., Norma Remily of Des Moines, Iowa, Ida Tenney of Page, Milie Jones of Holbrook, and Rilla Miller of Mesa."
"She is also survived by a sister, Ida Nielson, and a brother, Kenneth Palmer, both of Utah; 61 grandchildren, 93 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild."
