Esther was the daughter of Benjamin & Martha Sarah (Bates) Marsh. Sometime after 1800, Esther accompanied her parents to Ohio from the "Finger Lakes" region of New York. On October 18, 1821, Esther was married to John Adam Hill in Franklin County, OH, and the couple set up residence in Concord Township, Delaware County, OH. Esther & John Adam reportedly parented 13 children between the years of 1822 & 1846: Joseph D. Hill, Martha Hill (twin of Matthew B. Hill), Matthew B. Hill (twin of Martha Hill), Clarinda Hill, Henry Delmar Hill, Almina Hill (also buried at Hill Cemetery), Claud Hill, Mary Jane Hill, Sarah Hill (also buried at Hill Cemetery), Lucinda A. Hill, William W. Hill, Hugh M. Hill, & Esther C. Hill.
