Maria Teresa Rudolph Glause was born on December 19, 1862 in Germany where she grew to womanhood. She was the daughter of Henrietta Buss Rudolf. She came to America in 1880 and was united in marriage on March 10, 1881 to William Glause at Grand Island, Nebraska. After residing there one year they moved to Palmer where they lived until 1914 when they moved to Minnesota. In 1916 they returned to Halsey, Nebraska, where Mrs. Glause lived until two years ago when she came back to Merrick County and made her home with one of her daughters, Mrs. Esther Peck at Clarks. Mrs. Glause united with the Evangelical Church in 1890 and remained a member of her church. Mrs. Glause passed on Saturday, September 18, 1848 at the home of her grandson, Ed Wilhoft at Stromsburg, where she had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage one week prior. She leaves to mourn her passing two sons; Charles of Archer and Paul of Milburn; four daughters; Mrs. Bertha Anderson of Halsey, Mrs. Esther Peck of Clarks, Mrs. Hulda Wittgren of Stromsburg and Mrs. Lena Campbell of Genoa, Nebraska; two brothers, Carl of Central City; and Herman Rudolph of Alaska; one sister, Mrs. Theresa Deertz of Palmer,; 27 grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Glause was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons, one daughter and four sisters. Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Bornemeier, were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Archer Evangelical U.B. Church. Six grandsons were pallbearers. Mr. and Mrs. George Rudolf, Harold Rudolf and Mrs. Richard Weller were singers, with Mrs. Harvey Bonness accompanist. Burial was made in the cemetery near the church.
