45 years, 3 months, 25 days

July 14 1903 - Carroll Sentinel - The following concerning B. H. Hawver, who died recently at the hospital here after an operation, was sent to this office by a friend at Dedhnm:

Birdsell H. Hawver was born at Polo, Illinois, March 9, 1858, died at Carroll, Iowa, July 4, 1903. His sickness was of comparatively short duration and was the first real sickness of his life, yet in the midst of it all he was patient and vigilant concerning his wife's ministering efforts to make him comfortable.

At the age of 19 he entered the Chicago Medical college. After finishing his course at this place, he entered the state university at Iowa City and from thence to the college at Keokuk where he was graduated with honors.

July 4, 1891, he was united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Miss Anna Hoch of Dedham, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born, Maud and Flossie. He leaves as his survivals an affectionate wife, two daughters, and a father and mother to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. C.B. Kopford, of the Church of God, assisted by Rev. A.J. Mathews of the M.E. church. They were attended by a large concourse of friends from the surrounding towns and country.

Dr. Hawver was a member of the I.O.O.F., Woodman, Yeoman and Masonic orders of his town and county. Dr. Hawver, like all men, was not without his faults and mistakes in life. Yet we are bound to say that he profited by his mistakes and but a few short months ago, the reformation of his life took place. On March 10, 1903, at the Church of God he surrendered to the Lord Jesus Christ, and from that date he lived up to the best light he had, always giving this answer, "I am all right." Thus goes forth from among us a skilled physician, a good citizen, a beloved son, a loving father aud husband. Peace be to his ashes.
