S. Sgt. Kenneth Berry, tail gunner on the bomber, "Battle Package," missing since a raid over Germany July 7, was killed in action on that date. His wife, Mrs. Joyce Berry, 825 Isabelle, has received a message from the adjutant general.
The 21 - year - old flier joined the AAF after graduating from Treadwell in 1942 and went overseas last January. Sgt. had completed 27 combat missions when his plane failed to return to its English base and was awarded the Air Medal with several Oak Leaf Clusters.
He also leaves his mother, Mrs. D.T. Bonner of Mobile; his father, Mack Berry of Detroit, and his brother, Pfc. Jimmie A. Berry with the Marines overseas.

Both aircraft went down. Three chutes observed. Capt. Beckett, Lt. Kosky, and FO Saugen were survivors from 42-51144.
Five 389th BG aircraft are lost on a mission to Halle, Germany.
