Michael Patrick David, the son of Mathias and Emma (Bartusek) David, was born on March 31, 1911, on the farm where he made his home until he moved to Faribault in March of 2008. He married Sylvia Velzke on July 8, 1943. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Michael loved to be on the farm, the one that his grandfather settled on when he came from Czechoslovakia and is over a century old. There was always a story to tell, a joke to tell, or just something he'd tease you about. He always had a smile, and there wasn't a deck of cards that didn't get broke in.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Sylvia; son, Walter David (Betty Mullenmeister-David) of Faribault; daughters, Emily (Jerry) Velishek of Faribault and Mary (Larry) Glenn of Burnsville; nine grandchildren, Tony and Loren David, Diana (Velishek) Black, Michael and Benjamin Velishek, Jayme and Matthew Paukert, Lisa (Paukert) Eide, and Sarah (Paukert) Nelson; seven great-grandchildren, Miranda and Danielle David, Dalton David, Savannah and Owen Black, and Haley and Malea Paukert; four stepgrandchildren, Jennifer David, Janelle Tupy, Jessie Donahue and Jeff Mullenmeister; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Helen David of Montgomery and Rose David of Le Center; special friend, Harriet Helgeson of Chaska; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, John, Rudy, Ben and Matthew David; sisters, Mayme Bilek, Emily Schleis and Helen Drevlow; daughter-in-law, Elaine (DeCoux) David; and granddaughter, Annette David.
