Mrs. Joseph (Theresa) Flax, 80, a near 60 year resident of the Ransom community, passed away at the Grisell Memorial Hospital there Saturday, May 8. Born November 17, 1895, at Buckovina, Austria, she came to the United States in June of 1901. She was married to Joseph Flax June 4, 1919, at Ellis. She was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Ransom and of the Altar Society of the church.Funeral services were held from the church in Ransom Monday morning, May 10, with the pastor, Msgr. A.B. Dziemian, as celebrant. Interment was in the St. Aloysius Cemetery at Ransom with Fitzgeralds in charge. Survivors include the husband of the home in Ransom; daughters, Mrs. Earl (Mary) Prather of Hoisington, Mrs. Francis (Martha) Peschka of Great Bend, Sister Doris Marie of Leawood, and Sister Catherine of Chicago, Ill.; sons, Joseph I. and Albert I. of Arnold; Francis, John and Leonard of Ransom, and Paul of Ellis; sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Flax, Mrs. John Honas and Mrs. Joe Augustine of Ellis, Martha Weber and Mrs. Anna Carver, both of Kansas City; 43 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
