MOUNT SAVAGE,MARYLAND -- Lora May (Sturtz) Loar, 72, formerly of Mount Savage Road, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at Heartland of Brooksville, Brooksville, Fla.
Born Nov. 24, 1925, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Robert D. Sturtz Sr. and Lora May (Cross) Sturtz. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Linburgh Loar, in February 1998; three brothers, Robert D. Sturtz Jr., Harvey Sturtz and James Sturtz; and one sister, Mary Katherine Sturtz.
Mrs. Loar was a member of the Frostburg Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Surviving are three sons, Bernard L. "Bernie" Loar and wife Joan, Frostburg, Robert J. Loar and wife Gail, Brooksville, Fla., and William H. Loar, Mount Savage; two daughters, Lora M. Thomas and husband Mark, Vallejo, Calif., and Linda E. Case and husband Tony, Barboursville, W.Va.; one sister, Cora Jane Mercer, Mount Savage; one son-in-law, Roy W. Barnes, Midlothian; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, 230 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with John C. Richmond officiating.
Private interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Home Health Care Hospice of the Western Maryland Health System, 600 Memorial Ave., Cumberland, MD 21502.
