Just before going to press word was received here that Mr. W.L. Caldwell was removed last week to the Middle Georgia Sanitorium at Macon for treatment, and was thought to have been improving until yesterday morning when he took a sudden change for the worse and died almost unexpectedly a few hours later.
He was a pioneer and prominent citizen of the county, respected and esteemed by all men for his upright living and Christian character. He was a devout member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church and at which place funeral services and interment will take place today.
Mr. Caldwell was about 70 years of age and is survived by his widow Julia Windham Caldwell and the following children; Mr. W.J. Caldwell of Mauk, Messrs Johnnie and Windham Caldwell of near Butler, and Mrs. G.H. Moore of Thomaston.
